Mottino Wash-Rattlesnake Canyon

It looks like we're gonna have some rain Friday but Saturday will be clear. Therefore we are a go!

Run announcement: Rattlesnake Canyon (Ron) and Mottino Wash (Josh)
Date: March 12, 2016
Meeting place: Outpost Café (Hwy 395/Hwy 15)
Run start time: Breakfast: 7:30 (optional), Departure: 8:30 AM (Trailhead is still 1½ hours from meeting location)

Run Description: Rattlesnake Canyon is a wash that is easy and most stock 4X4's should be able to complete it. It starts off near 247 and takes you to 3N02. You can either go to Pioneer Town or head up to Onyx Peak in the Big Bear area or turn around and head back the way we came. About ¾ of the way in to Rattlesnake canyon there is a turnoff that leads to Mottino Wash. Mottino Wash is difficult. The first ½ mile is the most challenging including a pretty good squeeze. It also has a bunch of off-shoots for optional obstacles, should you choose to do them. Most have different line options with varying degrees of difficulty. There is a write up on Dirtopia under Sidewinder Trail if you would like to research it or YouTube has some videos as well. Dirt Devils 2015 Mottino Wash Run Report is found here. Please plan to bring your own provisions for the day. I will be heading up to Onyx Peak off Hwy 38 near Big Bear City and come back through Mentone. I'll be eating breakfast at 7:30 at Outpost Cafe. Please be fueled up and ready to leave by 8:30 AM.
