Jeep, America’s greatest vehicle
Vehicle Alarms
Unfortunately several JustRuns Members have had their
Jeeps stolen recently. Living close to the border, the
Jeeps can be in Mexico before you even know they are
gone. Some of the Jeeps stolen had sophisticated alarm
systems which didn’t seem to deter the thieves. There is
no “Fool Proof” anti-theft system however several of our
Members have installed the Ravelco system and so far
none of those has been stolen. There have been attempted
thefts but none were successful. A couple of members
have had their Jeeps broken into and had the ignitions
damaged but the Ravelco kept the vehicle from being
started.
One thing that makes Ravelco successful is that it is easy
to use. There is a plug that your remove when you park
and the vehicle cannot be started without that plug. Since
it is easy to use, one is more likely to use it every time
you park your Jeep. Each system is uniquely wired so a
thief would have to spend a lot of time to figure out which
wire goes where. All wires are Black so there is no clue
to how they are wired.
If you are considering having a Ravelco system installed
in your Jeep, be sure to tell them you are a JustRuns

planned on getting out on Saturday. It was cold, the tents

make it up Thomson Hill where Cort broke. Worked on
the truck from about 3:00 to 9:00 PM and used electrical
tape for the repair. After the truck was taped back
together, it started to snow. Another eight miles, Cort
broke again, same bearing and they knew the electrical
tape repair wouldn’t work again. It was still snowing.
They left Cort’s rig and got off the trail at 11:30 on
Saturday. Gilbert broke the upper control arm. Casey
ripped a brake line which they fixed on the trail. Got into
a hotel about 2:00 AM. Gilbert and Casey left them (had
to get to work). On the way back up the hill, came across
a single car accident with a young girl and stopped to help
her. After getting back on the trail they had to winch
themselves up the first couple miles of the trail as the
snow was deep. It took three hours to fix the truck with
the new parts. On the way out, the snow had turned to ice
making it very slippery.

Oregon Mine near Calico,CA
Coming from the north down the canyon, you will pass a 'V' shaped tailings pile on your right that extends to very near the edge of
the road. Right after this tailings pile the road splits briefly and then comes back together before a curve in the road around a bend. I
can't remember how far after, but after the bending you will see a very rocky road heading off Odessa Canyon Rd. to the right (west).
Follow this short road which will take you up to a flat area with a few mine entrances where you can park (assuming you drove down
the canyon). From the south end of this flat spot the trail you want to follow heads south.
